While some people may still read books often, I think that with the popularity of technology, people read fewer books than ever before. I feel this way for two main reasons. First, before technology, people used to read books on long journeys. Whether in a car, or on a train, you weren’t able to watch T.V., or surf the web, so you got cozy with a good book. Now, people are able to use their phones on cars, trains and even underground in subway stations! Second, I think people are addicted to social media. Even if they have plans to read a book, they may plan to get on Facebook for ten minutes and five hours flies by. I don’t think that people realize how much time they spend online, because it is so easy to get caught up on social media. So, unfortunately, I think that people read fewer books than before, due to technology that focuses on entertainment.
